Tuesdays Tidbit – Write a weekly meal plan. This can be extra helpful for those with larger families and is something I do every week.
Doing one large shop rather than several small ones cuts down on impulse buys, takeaway and wastage.
Before planning your meal plan, find a few recipes your family likes, check the latest specials at your grocery store and see if you can make your family favorites for cheaper. Then, pantry shop.
I find searching the pantry first can save money on things like seasoning and canned goods, as well as little bits of rice. I often find lost goodies hidden at the back of my pantry that I simply forgot I had or one of the kids played with and out in a different spot (my youngest currently rearranges the pantry daily).
Having a set meal plan means you only buy exactly what you need to make those meals so can save hundreds of dollars over a year.
